Health and wellbeing are at the very heart of everything we do at Cobden Primary School. The foundation of all that we teach is centred around providing a high quality education in the best learning environment for our students to thrive in.
Cobden Primary School's Wellbeing Philosophy
We see every relationship and interaction across the School as an opportunity to provide a positive student experience, which in turn, becomes part of our wellbeing philosophy. Not only do we explicitely teach wellbeing strategies, we see wellbeing as being ingrained into every aspect of school life on a daily basis.
Our health and wellbeing initiatives enable students to gather a sense of clarity, to set and achieve positive goals and make responsible decisions, to be able to cope with the challenges presented to them and to enhance their physical, social, emotional, mental and spiritual dimensions.
Wellbeing Support Staff
We are proud to have two wellbeing counsellors, along with highly trained staff who support all students from Foundation to year 6 as they navigate the challenges of growth, development and change. With support programs, excellent facilities and professionals that work in a collaborative and co-operative manner to ensure all students are engaged with their learning and that their physical, emotional and social needs are met.
A Big Life Footsteps
We are proud partners with Big Life Footsteps
We are quite fortunate to have A Big Life team working with staff and students at WWPS. All staff have access to resources and ideas to support students to navigate their experiences, emotions and wellbeing. Teachers model and teach to the Big Life focus each fortnight and this becomes common language across the school. Each term, WWPS has an umbrella theme that our school identifies as a key area of learning for our students and explicitly teach the fundamental elements of living a life full of potential and promise.
Breakfast Club
A healthy start to the school day
Our School Breakfast Club provides a warm and welcoming space for students when they arrive at school.
Staff help set up our Breakfast Club in our staffroom and provide all students with a variety of healthy, Victorian grown or manufactured breakfast foods. These include fruit cups, mini milks, fresh fruit and toast. We run our breakfast every Wednesday and Friday morning at no charge to any child.
Not only do we remove the barrier of children being hungry and having difficulties learning, children form positive relationships with their peers and staff.
